H ISTORY...
The first Frank Bush Pow Wow was held September 13-14, 1997 at Rush Lake Cemetery Grounds in Harford Michigan. The pow wow was a fund raising event and the first pow wow dedicated to Frank Bush. This was also the last pow wow he was to attend with his passing on September 19, 1997.

The year after Frank walked on, his family held a feast for the end of their one year mourning. Since then, the Frank Bush Memorial Walk in the Spirit Pow Wow has been held anually, on the third weekend of September. Previous pow wows were held at Silver Creek Sacred Heart Church in Dowagiac, MI.
In 2000, the Pow Wow Committee met with the folks at Historic Charlton Park to discuss moving the gathering back to our Anishnabe Homecoming Grounds. It had been 30 years since our People had gathered here. The Park's staff was delighted to bring a cultural experience to Barry County. For our People, it was such a wonderful feeling to be home. This will be the fourth year the Walk in the Spirit Pow Wow has been held at Historic Charlton Park.
We gather together to honor the memory of Frank Bush, respected elders of our community, to visit with friends and family, and to "Walk in the Spirit."
